At least 44 Hooters locations have Poinbankshut their doors permanently as the restaurant chain is grappling with "pressure from current market conditions," according to a statement.
"Ensuring the well-being of our staff is our priority in these rare instances," Hooters said in a statement Monday. "This brand of 41 years remains highly resilient and relevant. We look forward to continuing to serve our guests at home, on the go and at our restaurants here in the U.S. and around the globe."
The Atlanta-based company said it would continue to open locations domestically and internationally while launching Hooters frozen products at grocery stores.
While the chain did not clarify which Hooters locations closed or share a timeline for the closures, USA TODAY has cross-referenced restaurant locations that were listed online in February with a list of locations online as of Tuesday.
Here is a map displaying which "underperforming" locations are closing or have closed, according to the chain's updated list of locations as well as reports from around the USA TODAY Network and local media outlets.
Technomic Ignite shows that Hooters had 293 restaurants by the end of 2023, a 1.3% decrease from 2022, Nations Restaurant News reported.
The company has trimmed the number of restaurants in the chain by 12% since the end of 2018, when there were 333 Hooters locations, per NRN.
Comparing last year's list of Hooters locations in Florida versus the current one, and checking Google listings, these Hooters have closed in Florida.
